Aprašymas

This is a story in the Arthurian tradition, written by an anonymous poet probably sometime in the fourteenth century of the Common Era. It survives in a single manuscript copy in the British Museum. Author, poet and artist Marilyn Peck translated the poem from Middle English. She then created 48 watercolour paintings inspired by the poem, and used the paintings to illustrate her book. Most of the paintings are embellished with gold leaf, palladium leaf, or a combination of the two precious metals. Tiny images have been carved into the gilding. Thirty of the paintings are miniatures and they have been reproduced in their actual sizes in the book. The non-miniature paintings are reproduced in full-page size. The author has also created illuminated initials to start each verse of the poem.
